PrintCity – Manchester Metropolitan University

Patrycja Kukielka

My journey with design and engineering started in college, however since I was a little kid, I was drawn to technology. After moving to the UK from Poland in 2012 I was given the opportunity to study subjects that were of interest to me that would lead me towards a dream career. As my interest of how things worked and passion for technology grew, I chose to study product design. I continued the passion and in 2020 I graduated a bachelor’s degree in Design Engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University achieving a first-class with honours.

During the time spent on campus, whilst participating in various group and individual projects, I’ve learned many different skills and gained knowledge. This has prepared me significantly for working in the industry as well as bringing to my attention how important it is to design products with the future of our planet in mind, by implementing sustainable design practices.

Computer Aided Design (CAD) was a huge part of my undergraduate course, giving me an opportunity to study software such as Solidworks and Fusion 360, which in combination with additive manufacturing helped me start bringing all my design ideas to life.

During my postgraduate course in Industrial Digitalisation I hope to further improve my knowledge and skills in additive manufacturing to work within Industry 4.0
