Dr Carly Fletcher
Research Associate (BIOPLASTICS-EUROPE project)
Bio
Dr Carly Fletcher is a research associate at the Manchester Metropolitan University. In her current role, within the H2020 project: Bioplastics Europe, her research focuses on the safety and sustainability of bio-based and/or biodegradable plastics. She also teaches Sustainable Waste and Resource Management, helping to develop the next generation of geography and environmental science graduates. Previous to her current post, Carly held a research position at the University of Manchester, where her research, within the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change, focused on the management of plastic wastes within hospitals, as well as investigating the circularity and resilience of business models within the seafood sector. Carly obtained her doctorate in 2019 at the Manchester Metropolitan University, exploring the contribution of waste management policy to the transition to the circular economy. She also holds an MSc in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development from the Manchester Metropolitan University and a BSc in Marine Biology from the University of Liverpool.
