Emma Rothwell

Technical Officer

Emma is the Technical Officer overseeing the 3D printing production schedule, specialising in Additively Manufacturing for textiles. Her role focuses on managing the incoming requests, accepting, file fixing and completing all 3D prints whilst maintaining the equipment on site.

Emma works closely with the Art and Humanities disciplines, particularly with textiles and fashion, developing ways they can print onto substrates. She guides individuals through the 3D printing process and helps identify a workflow suitable to their practice. This can include CAD file production, preparing files for 3D Printing and use of the 3D Printers. With a background in model making, this allows Emma to advise users from a range of disciplines on how to choose the correct production process for their project. Ultimately helping them gain an understanding of how using some traditional making techniques can complement digital production methods.
