About PrintCity

We are an innovative hub of additive and digital manufacturing at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Working with a variety of businesses and individuals, ranging from students and researchers to small businesses and staff looking to upskill, we offer strong on-site support and industry connections within and beyond the University.

If you want to ‘go digital’ with your business, then we have the perfect place to start. All printed parts begin with a CAD file and we have a dedicated CAD area with 32 powerful machines running Autodesk Fusion 360.

On-site, we boast a large and varied range of 3D printers for manufacturing plastic and metal parts, coupled with facilities for investment casting of small metal parts such as jewellery (see the current list). We also have a broad range of associated technologies, including scanning, laser welding and laser-cutting. Our dedicated post-production area houses equipment to finish plastics and metals, to ensure your designs are ready to go.

Education is at the heart of PrintCity and we work across multiple disciplines within the University. Outside the University, we’re working with pupils and staff from schools and colleges to bring them up to speed about the very latest technology. So if you want to take your first steps into Computer Aided Design (CAD), study for an advanced qualification or see your designs come to life then please speak with us.
