Sam Hitchen
Technical Officer
Sam is a former PrintCity MSc student Sam is the Technical Officer who oversees the 3D Printing service here at PrintCity, specialising in digital design and machine maintenance. His role focuses on managing incoming requests, accepting, file fixing and completing all 3D prints whilst maintaining the equipment on site. Sam has a research background in investigating 3D printed soft padding in cycling apparel, and has completed extensive research into eco-friendly concrete mixtures, which are intended for more sustainable concrete 3D printing. With Sam’s origins in Product Design and Digital Manufacturing, he works closely with students and academics from the Department of Engineering. Sam’s experience working in the freelance product design industry makes him ideal for working with students to get the most out of their designs.
