Lostock High School Visit
Year 9 pupils from Lostock High School visited PrintCity for our Autodesk Fusion and 3D Printing Taster Day. Our newly refurbished CAD suite was put to good use by the 17 pupils who began with a tour of the PrintCity facility before logging in and onboarding with Autodesk Fusion.
Led by Tom Fish, a current MMU final year Product Design student, the CAD session first introduces the pupils to common tools within Fusion to make simple shapes and objects. With the basics learned, pupils follow along, step-by-step to make a digital model of a drinks bottle, complete with see-through window and cap.
After lunch, pupils showed their creative flair by using colors, materials and decals to personalise their bottle to their own taste.
The highlight of the day is the ‘Design Slam’, where pupils get to create any object that would hold a liquid. This is against the clock and against each other, assisted by our three ambassadors, Solisa, Soe Tay and Lisa, all of whom are current students on the MSc Digital Design and Manufacturing programme.
Many thanks to the pupils and teachers from Lostock High School. We really hope you enjoyed your day with us.
