Manchester Communication Academy Visit
Many thanks Manchester Communication Academy for visiting Print City! Our Student Ambassadors gave an extensive tour of the facility, showcasing our many machines, 3D scanners and 3D printing technologies. We discussed further education in Design, Engineering and Architecture and our students’ experience, as well as the value of CAD skills.
We began our Autodesk Fusion design workshop with some essential skills, progressing into creating a water bottle design from scratch. After a lunch break, we started our Design Challenge: students were given a brief, “design something that can hold water”. This led students down multiple routes; creating pools, castles with moats, drinking cups and fishbowls. Although it was extremely close, two students took home the win in the challenge, creating an intricate fishbowl and a plant pot with flowers.
Thank you to all the students who attended! Every one of you gave it your all and created something unique, learning a hugely valuable skill, applicable to many fields in Art, Design and Engineering.
