Mark Chester

Innovation Development Manager, PrintCity

I am an Autodesk Certified Instructor specialising in product design. PrintCity provides an incredible environment for innovation and development. The amazing facilities enabled the freedom to explore, experiment, fail and develop through a hands-on approach to using industry-standard equipment.

It was fascinating to gain insights into how Industry 4.0 is disruptive many sectors and I learnt a great deal from my fellow course mates. There was a real buzz around the course which I hadn’t really felt elsewhere – everyone had so much potential.

At PrintCity, you never know what opportunities will come through the door. Having access to live projects with major organisations was invaluable and lead to exciting opportunities.

Industry 4.0 is causing massive disruption across multiple sectors. I wanted to be at the forefront of this new wave of technological advancement by developing new and innovative products through the application of cutting-edge processes. My ambition was to design and disrupt, regardless of industry.

The most important lesson I learned is to fail fast and fail often. In a short period of time, I developed a range of skills in new areas such as generative design, 3D scanning and additive manufacturing processes, which helped me to stand out among other graduates entering industry.
