Segun Akin-Olugbade

Segun Akin-Olugbade is just about as passionate as it gets, especially when he starts going on about cars! He loves his cars, and favours power, refinement and a nice stereo over all other automotive attributes… but drives a diesel Volvo!

With a BEng in Automotive Engineering and BA in Automotive Design, as well as stints in entrepreneurship, and with Jaguar Land Rover, he has the knowledge to back up his passion, and spends his time following new industry trends to widen that knowledge. His main skills include 3D solid and surface modelling, photoreal rendering, as well as vehicle integration engineering.

Today, his passion is understanding how industry 4.0 will change the automotive industry. With some commentators suggesting it will be in the manufacturing process, and others claiming it will be in design and development, Segun is interested in finding answers to these questions, possibly with the intention of taking a second shot at entrepreneurship. The first was in Nigeria, where he attempted to use the Sporting Experience Dau Coupe to inspire a new automotive and industrial revolution in the West African country.

With his failure in that project being one of his greatest strengths, Segun knows how to try and try again, and is looking forward to learning, iterating and creating some interesting concepts while at Print City.

In his spare time, Segun is an auto-DIY enthusiast and wannabe Gran Turismo expert. His interest in fixing things, and his recent discovery of 3D printing as a hobby means that he has used his CAD expertise and 3D printing to solve many problems in his home, not least designing and deploying a new mechanism for the accelerator pedal of his SIM Racing rig that now delivers much smoother pedal feel while he tries, without much luck, to break into the elite of SIM-Racing.
