Elen Parry

Product Design Consultant, PrintCity
Studying for a PhD in Inclusive Design and Digitalisation, Manchester Metropolitan University

The course is a fantastic vehicle for being at the forefront of a range of aspects of Industry 4.0.

Our cohort was diverse, with peers having interests and specialities in many difference areas. This encouraged us to share insights into developments in areas we wouldn’t have naturally considered.

I learned about a wide range of 3D print technologies and software packages, including Fusion 360, 3D Studio Max, Meshmixer and KeyShot. This immediately made me more employable. Understanding a process from the conceptual ideation stage right through to the post-processing and finishing stage makes me an asset to any company wishing to adopt these technologies.

In the future, I hope to continue growing my circle of connections within industry, be up-to-date and have a strong knowledge base in all areas of Industry 4.0, as well as the skills and expertise to apply these to my specialist area of product design.
