Mortar & Clay
In conjunction with the CIRMAP research project, PrintCity developed a sustainable 3D printing mortar using recycled fine aggregates sourced from demolition waste. As such, we have 2 machines capable of 3D printing with mortar and clay.
Our first machine is a Potterbot Scara V4 with an extruder system built for printing clay and other paste materials. It has the largest extruder available from 3D potter and gives us the ability to print larger objects than their other machines.
Additionally, PrintCity has a 6-axis industrial robot retrofitted with a pump system that can extrude a mortar mixture. The ABB IRB 1600 is great for small scale testing such as structural test models or material testing.
