My life has always been driven by a desire to grow and learn more. I’ve had a passion for mathematics and a natural curiosity about how things work, which led me to explore engineering.
In high school, my passion for design and 3D printing grew, which fueled an interest in using CAD for laser cutting and 3D printing. I started by purchasing an Anet A8 3D printer which I started to download, print and upgrade the parts on it. I then saved up to upgrade to a Prusa Mk3s. During high school I started a 3D printing club, where I helped younger students build and use 3D printers, allowing them to create CAD designs and print physical parts.
My passion then led me to MMU where I achieved a 1st class honors in BEng Mechanical Engineering. For my Undergraduate final year project, I looked into Rapid Prototyping Using Digital Design and Manufacturing Technologies where I came up with designs and tested them to make a scale model of an Americas Cup boat, which was a meter long. With this project, I was awarded the outstanding final year project of the year at MMU and the IMechE Project Prize award. There I was able to develop my technical and communication skills both through industry-led projects and self-taught modules.
As a problem solver, I am always questioning the limits of a subject to find different creative ways to solve problems. What I love about Design and Additive Manufacturing is how it intertwines with almost every other subject. I’m fascinated by areas that have adapted to connect digitalization with traditional work.
I have always loved building, improving and designing things. As a child, I loved playing with Lego and Meccano, and I would build all sorts of models. It was always fun to dream up new worlds and come up with original solutions with the limited parts I had.
I am seeking to make a positive difference to our planet and people, whether it’s through making someone’s life better with a great design or just putting a smile on their face with something fun.
