I’ve always had an interest in art and design since I was a child. I loved art so much that it turned into an addictive hobby, and I could never stop creating art ever since. Slowly, I changed my focus from art to creative design. I have a deep interest in automobiles, especially in cars. I studied mechanical engineering as my undergraduate in Chennai, India to learn more about machines and their mechanisms in 2018.
In the four years that I had, I particularly learned and worked in the field of vehicle manufacturing. This gave me a wider perspective of what the automobile manufacturing industry looked like and what it had to offer.
I was part of a huge team where we designed and manufactured an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) from scratch for a nationwide competition. I worked on this project for almost 4 months where I had hands-on experience of manufacturing the vehicle and learning about FEA analysis, stress tests and a lot more. This project taught me a lot about automobile manufacturing and how it performs on different terrains.
After my undergraduate, I decided I wanted to pursue my career more in design and at the same time I grew an interest in the Formula One racing industry. This is when life made me cross paths with the MSc in Digital Design and Manufacturing course at Manchester Metropolitan University. It was a no-brainer for me to choose this course and pursue my postgrad as it perfectly blended with my goals and interests. Besides, I could design anything and print it in real life alone which was just fascinating. The Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Scholarship was the best thing that could happen to me when I thought I already got what I wanted. It provided me with a fully funded scholarship to further help me with my career goals and help me “design” my life into how I want it to be.
Manchester Met, on the other hand, interested me with a rather unique style of education and learning. I was excited to study in such a new environment as it was very different from the type of education style I had back home. It gave me a promise to grab and create new opportunities within and outside the university. I am very eager to indulge in this new chapter in my life and looking forward to meeting new people, making new connections with the industry and last but not least, helping myself and others around me.
